Chameleon by J.H.

Eight different houses in the past five years

Three different high schools

Two different states, two different cultures.

I hate being new

There is just too much to do, to much to learn

Too many times changing my color

Too many times changing who I am

John the new kid

John the kid from Hawaii

John something

It’s never been me though

I’ve become a chameleon – changing to adapt to my surroundings

But I’m lost

I spend my time thinking

Going back in time to when I first changed

Trying to figure out who I truly am

But I can’t find it

I’ve become the image that the school wants me to be

That the people want me to be

That I want to be

I hide behind my every changing skin
